Black rice (Manipuri-ChakHao, Tamil-Kavuni), also known as the ‘Forbidden Rice’, is a rare variety of rice, which is flavourful with a unique texture.  Black rice has a high amount of flavonoids, phytonutrients, and antioxidants. It has a high mineral content of iron and copper.

    Shelf Life: Best before 6 months from the date of manufacture

    Directions for using/ Recipe:

    • Put a sufficient amount of water in a pressure cooker
    • Place a vessel in the cooker 
    • Add 1 part rice to 3 parts water inside the vessel.
    • Pressure cook the rice on a high flame for 1 whistles.
    • Lower the flame and cook the rice for next 3 whistles

    You could also use black rice to make curd rice, dosa, idli, appam, idiappam, neer dosa and more.
