Foxtail Millet Kanji

You can also make this with: more vegetables; a meat mince; a mix up of 2-3 dals. Be creative!

For tempering:

To garnish

  • Freshly grated coconut or carrot

  • Coriander leaves, finely chopped

Preparation

  1. Grind the millet roughly in the mixer for a minute. Spread it out on a plate to dry a bit.

  2. Heat the ghee in a pressure cooker.

  3. Temper with clove, cinnamon and fenugreek seeds

  4. Add the moong dal and fry for a few minutes

  5. Add in the onion, tomato, ginger garlic paste and the green chilly.

  6. Add millet, water and pressure cook for 3-4 whistles.

  7. Add salt to taste.

  8. Garnish with coconut, carrot and coriander leaves.

  9. Eat fresh and hot.
